Haft's Morpho series asks whether silver can hold the structural blue of a Morpho wing. In the first experiment, a wing made with a new, more delicate technique held the Morpho's own structural blue in silver for the first time, with no pigment added, until the silver contracted during firing and the blue faded. After chemical brightening and Haft's rainbow patina, it finished in a lustrous, angle-shifting icy blue.

Each custom wing becomes part of these ongoing experiments. Its process is documented and shared in the series, so you'll be able to follow your own piece being made.

Every piece is designed and finished in New York using a lost organic casting process and is the fossilization of a unique specimen. No two pieces will ever be the same.

Made to order. Your piece is cast, engraved and finished after you order. Allow approximately 4–5 weeks before it ships.

Every parcel is insured and tracked, and you receive tracking the moment it ships. Shipping rates and destinations are shown at checkout before you pay. Outside the United States, import duties and taxes are the collector’s responsibility unless checkout states otherwise.

Patinas are a hand-applied surface finish. Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth, and avoid silver dips, polishing cloths and harsh chemicals on the coloured areas. Take it off before swimming or showering, and store it on its own so it isn’t scratched.

The Morpho Butterfly Fossil can be made as a brooch, earring or pendant. Choose your wing and setting above before adding to cart, and your choice stays attached to your order. For any other setting, request a custom order and the studio will follow up.
