Choose your finish

Bright Finish: polished, glowing pure copper.
Technicolor Flamepainting: the copper is coloured by hand with an open flame, which draws out teal, violet, gold and red across the wing. Every piece colours differently, so no two are alike.

Sealed against tarnish

Pure copper naturally darkens and can turn green when exposed to air, skin and moisture. Each pendant is sealed with a clear protective coating that keeps its colour and stops tarnish from forming.

Care

Take it off before swimming, showering or exercising.
Put on perfume, lotion and hairspray before wearing it, and let them dry first.
Wipe it clean with a soft, dry cloth. Don't use jewelry dips or abrasive polishes, which strip the seal (and, on Technicolor Flamepainting, the colour).
Store it on its own in a dry pouch or box.

How to reseal it if the coating wears off

With daily wear, the coating can rub thin on the high points. If you see darkening, a dull patch or a green tint, you can reseal it at home:

Clean. Wash in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, rinse, and dry completely with a soft cloth.
Brighten (Bright Finish only, and only if it has tarnished). Rub gently with a copper polishing cloth, or with a paste of lemon juice and baking soda on a soft toothbrush. Rinse well and dry completely. Skip this step for Technicolor Flamepainting: polishing removes the flame colours.
Degrease. Wipe the whole pendant with 70–99% isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth, then don't touch the metal with bare fingers.
Seal. Brush on a thin, even coat of clear jewelry lacquer made for copper, such as ProtectaClear or Everbrite, or rub in a thin layer of Renaissance Wax and buff it. Hold the pendant by the bale or hang it while you work.
Cure. Let it dry somewhere dust-free for at least 24 hours, or as long as the lacquer's label says, before wearing.

Reseal every few months if you wear it daily. If copper ever leaves a faint green mark on your skin, it's harmless and washes off with soap and water. It means the coating needs refreshing.
